I'm not sure what music to choose. Are you able to help me choose music for my event?
Yes! Having performed for various types of special events, we are experienced as to what parts of your special occasions need music and also what selections may work best. Contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you with selecting music and personalizing a program for your wedding day. Please review our repertoire here. Also, take a moment to listen to our music samples.
For weddings, we recommend you choose a song for the following places in the ceremony -
Entrance of mothers/grandmothers:
Entrance of bridal party (including ring bearers and flower girls)
Entrance of the bride
Recessional song (includes the entire wedding party)
What are you performance space requirements?
We need enough space to accommodate chairs for each member of the ensemble. Clients should plan to provide chairs with no arms for each member. We will provide our own music stands. We are also able to perform under a tent.
What is your standard attire for special events?
It is customary for us to wear all black dress clothes (black dress shirt, black dress, black dress pants/skirt, black socks, black shoes) for indoor and outdoor weddings. Per the request of the client, we can wear formal black tie (tuxedos and long black dress). In the summer months, formal black attire is not available outdoors, unless the event is indoors.
How do we book East West Strings for our event?
Contact us via our contact form or by e-mail or phone. We will then issue a contract with the event details. To secure date and time of your event, a $100 deposit with the signed contract is required. The balance is due any day before the wedding up until the day of the wedding. Many of our clients choose to pay before via our convenient payment options (Zelle or Venmo). Only money order, cash payments or electronic payments (via Zelle or Venmo) are accepted the day of the wedding. If paying by check, please pay at least 2 weeks in advance of the event day.
I would like to request pieces that may not be in your repertoire. Are you able to play these special requests?
Yes. Please provide us the name of the piece and who wrote it. Sometimes, pieces are arranged for strings. If not, no worries. We ask that you give us a copy of the piano part. For the price of $75, we can have pieces arranged for strings to perform for your special event.

Yes! In addition to classical music, East West Strings performs R&B, Pop, Jazz, Christian contemporary, gospel, tango, and popular songs. Does the contracted group or a representative of East West Strings attend the wedding rehearsal?
It is customary for the musician to not attend the wedding rehearsal. On your wedding day, we will take care of all the visual cues with your wedding director beforehand and adjust the tempo/length of songs according to the pace of the processions. With more than 20 years of wedding performance experience, we know how to fade the song so that a smooth transition occurs from one song to the next. At an additional fee of $100/player, the entire group or a representative of East West Strings can attend the wedding rehearsal.
How far in advance should we book East West Strings for our event?
As soon as you decide you want East West Strings to perform at your next event, please go ahead and book us. We sometimes receive requests years or months in advance for event dates and sometimes a few weeks before event dates. To ensure our availability for your event dates, book us as soon as possible. We have already begun to book for 2024 and 2025. We look forward to performing at your special event!
What is your cancellation policy?
In the event that a client needs to cancel services with East West Strings, payment is not required for the remaining balance up until 2 weeks of the event date. If cancelling within 2 weeks of the event date, the remaining balance is due by the date of the original event. The $100 deposit remains nonrefundable in either scenario.
Are you able to play outdoors?
Yes. Direct sunlight and exposure to water adversely affect our stringed instruments. When performing in the sunlight, we ask to be placed in the shade for the safety of our instruments. If there is forecasted rain, a covering is needed for us to perform (tent, porch, canopy, overhead covering). East West Strings performs at many outdoors events. So, we are happy to discuss solutions to any potential problems at your chosen venue. We offer the option for our clients to rent a tent that we may perform under for the cost of $75. You can indicate if you would like to add this option to your contract.
